Inclusive Healthcare Takes Centre Stage at The Network Tutorial
On Wednesday 12 August, members of The Network Gippsland came together for another engaging session in our Online Tutorial Series, with Rural Generalist Dr Andrew Roberts leading an informative discussion on providing inclusive healthcare for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Dr Roberts, who has been practising at Heyfield Medical Centre since 2010, shared practical advice and real-world examples drawn from his extensive experience in rural general practice. The session explored how clinicians can create welcoming, inclusive healthcare environments while delivering evidence-based care to LGBTQIA+ patients.
Medical students, junior doctors and registrars from across Gippsland joined the online tutorial, contributing to thoughtful discussion and asking questions throughout the evening. Participants gained practical insights into best practice, left with greater confidence in caring for LGBTQIA+ patients, and were introduced to a range of trusted clinical resources to support their future practice.
As part of the session, Dr Roberts highlighted several evidence-based guidelines and organisations that clinicians are encouraged to use to ensure they provide inclusive, up-to-date care.
